If investors also own a share of Phillip Morris International (PM) for every share of Altria (MO) that they own, I would only then view Altria as a buy. Phillip Morris International (PM) owns the international operations of Altria and was spun off in 2008 as an independent company. &lt;br /&gt;Please explain if possible. Thank you. MO&amp;#39;s P/E ratio is 11.65, wile PM&amp;#39;s is 14.45. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That means, of course, that Altria&amp;#39;s earning-payout ratio is much higher than Phillip Morris International&amp;#39;s. I&amp;#39;m tempted, though, to take the contrary position from an income investor&amp;#39;s standpoint.
